Abstract

A new species of Chelidura Latreille, 1825 (Dermaptera: Forficulidae), Chelidura gansuensis sp. nov., collected from Jiutianshimen Mountain, Gansu Province, China, is described and illustrated based on male and female adults. Chelidura gansuensis sp. nov. is characterized by the strongly undulating forceps bearing giant dorsal and ventral tubercles. The morphological comparison is made between the new species and the similar species Chelidura semenovi (Bey-Bienko, 1934). The types localities of Chelidura species from China are clarified. An updated key to Chinese species of Chelidura is also provided.
