Abstract

A taxonomic study of Korean Scopaeus Erichson is presented. Nine species are recognized, six of which are new to the Korean fauna [Scopaeus (Scopaeus) chinensis Frisch, Scopaeus (Scopaeus) complex Sharp, Scopaeus (Scopaeus) limbatus Kraatz, Scopaeus (Scopaeus) naomii Frisch, Scopaeus (Scopaeus) paliferus Frisch, and Scopaeus (Scopaeus) testaceus (Motschulsky)]. Scopaeus (Scopaeus) curraxoides is excluded from the Korean fauna. Detailed morphological characters support the validity of these species. A key, diagnoses, habitus photographs, and illustrations of diagnostic characters of Korean Scopaeus species are provided to facilitate identification.
