Abstract
We present a wrapper for the Springer Nature RESTful API written for Python 3. The wrapper allows users to access their free-to-use endpoints via user-friendly interfaces and can be used without prior knowledge of RESTful APIs. The APIs allow users to query metadata and open-access full-text of articles, conference proceedings and books published with Springer Nature. Files are cached to speed up subsequent analysis. Originating from these broad thematic areas, the journal also welcomes submissions of software that works in cross cutting thematic areas, such as citizen science, cybersecurity, digital economy, energy, global resource stewardship, health and wellbeing, etcetera. SoftwareX specifically aims to accept submissions representing domain-independent software that may impact more than one research domain.
