[Angiomammography, a new breast imaging technique available in the diagnosis management of breast cancers].

Abstract

Breast cancer diagnosis is currently based on the combination of mammography and ultrasound and/or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) depending on the characteristics of the patient, on the one hand, and the disease, on the other hand. However, limited access to MRI, its contraindications and its high cost do not make it as a modality of first choice. It is in this context that angiomammography was developed. This innovative technique combines breast X-ray imaging with intravenous administration of an iodinated contrast agent providing morphological and functional information on tumour perfusion. In this article, we present this imaging technique, its indications, advantages, disadvantages and limitations as well as its current and future positioning.
