Abstract
The Zhang-Zhang polynomial counts Clar covers of a hexagonal system and is closely related to many important topological invariants. Heping Zhang and Fuji Zhang conjectured that the Zhang-Zhang polynomial of any hexagonal system has unimodal coefficients. In this paper we show that Zhang-Zhang polynomials of the parallelogram chains have some stronger unimodality properties.
