Abstract
The mechanical behavior of AZ31 magnesium alloy sheet under the conditions of shock-wave loading is studied by numerical modeling. The interaction between the aluminum alloy and AZ31 magnesium alloy plates under an axisymmetric impact is discussed. For the sake of an adequate description of spall fracture of magnesium alloy plates, the collision process is simulated using an active-type fracture model.
