Abstract
The half-life of the ground state of 131La has been measured using high resolution γ-spectroscopy techniques. The activity was obtained using 124Sn foil irradiated by 14N beam of energy 115 MeV, delivered by the K-130 Cyclotron at the Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC), Kolkata. The active foil was counted for 5 h using 11 Compton-suppressed Clover HPGe detectors of the Indian National Gamma Array (INGA) facility. A half-life of 60.17(1) min has been obtained from the present measurements. Several γ-transitions, tentatively placed in the level scheme of 131La from previous works, have been confirmed from the present study. The decay half-lives of the isomeric state in 132La at 188.2 keV and ground state of 130La have also been measured as 24.0(4) min and 8.6(2) min, respectively, from the present data.
