Abstract
Gram-negative Bacteria
Most antibiotics are ineffective against Gram-negative bacteria due to the presence of the outer membrane (OM). In article number 2411923, Jianzhong Shen, Kui Zhu, and co-workers screened natural xanthone skeletons with the potential to penetrate the OM after amine modification. These optimized compounds cross the OM via a self-promoted pathway, facilitating the discovery of novel antibacterial agents.
