They also interact with epithelial and nerve cells, which are crucial in forming a complex network of cell–cell and gene–gene interactions driving chronic inflammation that can confer resistance to treatment. Abstract

Mast cells (MCs) play a critical role in allergic inflammation, anaphylaxis, and chronic inflammatory diseases such as asthma, COPD, and osteoarthritis.
