Abstract

Last year, the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) released several resources to explore nurse managers’ span of control, which has a direct impact on financial outcomes, staff retention, and quality of care. The AONL Workforce Committee is further working on releasing 2 tools that will help nurse executives buttress the arguments for right sizing a nurse manager’s span of control. To learn more about these initiatives, we spoke with AONL Senior Director of Professional Practice Lori Wightman, DNP, RN, CENP, FAONL.
