Abstract
The rate of adolescent depression is on the rise. Additional treatment modalities are needed to complement or provide an alternative to psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy. Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval for the treatment of depression in adolescents aged 15 to 17 years based on demonstrated efficacy and safety in the literature. As insurance companies are starting to cover TMS, this modality is becoming more available to patients. [Journal of Psychosocial Nursing and Mental Health Services, 63(4), 9-11.].
