[Actual investigations and treatments for female pelvic floor dysfunction].

Abstract

Pelvic floor dysfunctions in women result in problems of urinary and/or anorectal incontinence, prolapse and sexual dysfunction. Their treatment is physiotherapeutic to begin with and then, possibly, surgical: colposuspensions, suburethral sling placements, intraurethral injections of a bulking agent, cystorectocele cures, sacrospinal fixations or laparoscopic promonto-fixations. The results using an endovaginal and vulvar "rejuvenation" laser need to be confirmed. Neuromuscular rehabilitation of the pelvic floor is the first therapeutic procedure to be performed. On the other hand, research in the field of preventing pelvic floor injuries during childbirth is not very financially encouraged, despite the technological developments currently available.
