Abstract
In their Research Article (e202424391), Ayumi Ishii and co-workers present a giant bulk photovoltaic effect (BPVE) in chiral polar crystals of helical 1D lead halide perovskites using chiral naphthylethylamine cations. The crystals, with a C2 space group, exhibit strong circular dichroism and an exceptional BPVE, achieving an open-circuit voltage of 15 V—five times their band gap. These findings highlight the potential of chiral polar semiconductors for high-efficiency photovoltaic applications.
