Abstract
In this study, boron carbide particles (10 to 20 µm) were irradiated with cobalt-60 at doses of 10, 50, 100, and 200 kGy. Comprehensive analyses using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) were conducted on samples before and after exposure. XRD results indicated a significant decrease in amorphization at 100 kGy, revealing a discernible crystalline structure. FESEM analysis showed that this dose also led to an increase in particle size and a reduction in shell-like peeling. These findings suggest that a 100 kGy dose enhances crystallinity and modifies the surface morphology of boron carbide.
