Abstract
A convenient method for the C(sp3)H-functionalization of 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (neocuproine) by the reaction with ethyl trifluoropyruvate was proposed. The reaction carried out by reflux in 1,2-dichloroethane gave 2,2′-(1,10-phenanthroline-2,9-diyl)bis(methylene)]bis(2-hydroxy-3,3,3-trifluoropropanoic acid) derivatives.
