Abstract
Lean Construction (LC), in particular, stands out as a new approach compared to conventional construction managing methods, promising significant transformation within the construction sector. This investigation seeks to specify the distinctive obstacles connected to adopting (LC) in Egypt, with the expectation that this knowledge will encourage the practice of (LC) techniques, finally contributing to improving the Egyptian construction sector. In order to reach the results, this research uses a desk study to analyze the literature review to specify hindrances from previous researches. Then, classify the collected hindrances into five groups. This research was executed in Egypt, and a questionnaire tool was applied to construction sector specialists who operate in construction sites within the Administrative capital and have knowledge of (LC) concepts. One hundred sixty-two respondents answered the questionnaire. Results show that the first five influential hindrances are Shortage of skilled labor, Lack of familiarity with Lean, Shortage of knowledge of Lean, Bad documentation, and poor material management. Results also show that awareness-related hindrances indicate they are the main hindrances from the point of view of construction professionals in Egypt, and there is a need for more understanding and familiarity with (LC) principles and practices among construction professionals.
期刊介绍:
in Shams Engineering Journal is an international journal devoted to publication of peer reviewed original high-quality research papers and review papers in both traditional topics and those of emerging science and technology. Areas of both theoretical and fundamental interest as well as those concerning industrial applications, emerging instrumental techniques and those which have some practical application to an aspect of human endeavor, such as the preservation of the environment, health, waste disposal are welcome. The overall focus is on original and rigorous scientific research results which have generic significance.
Ain Shams Engineering Journal focuses upon aspects of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering, petroleum engineering, environmental engineering, architectural and urban planning engineering. Papers in which knowledge from other disciplines is integrated with engineering are especially welcome like nanotechnology, material sciences, and computational methods as well as applied basic sciences: engineering mathematics, physics and chemistry.
