This review explores the pivotal role of buffer layers in unidirectional alignment growth of TMDC. We highlight recent experimental and theoretical insights into atomic-scale interfacial structures. Strategies to optimize growth conditions are discussed through integration of vacuum-interconnected systems and machine learning.
