Abstract
The friction stir welding of dissimilar joints between aluminum alloy AA7075 and titanium alloy Grade 5, utilizing an overlapping configuration with liquid cooling and varying tool rotation speeds, is studied. A metallographic analysis of the resulting joints reveals a mutual penetration of the dissimilar alloys during welding. Mechanical testing of the joints allowed for an evaluation of how the tool rotation speed affects the weld strength.
