Based on the latest research reports, this Perspective introduces the basic mechanism of SDT and the influencing factors of therapeutic effects, elucidates the significance of ferroptosis-targeted SDT, and summarizes the recent studies on ferroptosis-targeted SDT through different pathways. We also present innovative studies of composite ultrasound-responsive drug delivery platforms. Ferroptosis is a nonapoptotic form of cell death discovered in 2012. Noninvasive treatments regulating ferroptosis are important for a wide range of diseases.
