Inflammatory Myofibroblastic Tumor of the Bladder in Childhood: A Three Case Series

Abstract

Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) is a rare soft tissue tumor that predominantly affects children and young adults. While it can involve multiple organ systems, IMT of the bladder is remarkably uncommon. We present three pediatric cases of bladder IMT, describing the presentation, evaluation, management, and current follow-up of each. Two patients were successfully managed with targeted therapies, whereas one patient was trialed on non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) but ultimately required surgical intervention. This series underscores the complexity of managing IMT of the bladder and highlights the importance of individualized treatment strategies that consider tumor biology while striving to reduce treatment-related morbidity.
