Abstract

Retraction: S. O. Lee, W. Lou, C. S. Johnson, D. L. Trump, and A. C. Gao, "Interleukin-6 Protects LNCaP Cells From Apoptosis Induced by Androgen Deprivation Through the Stat3 Pathway," The Prostate 60, no. 3 (2004): 178-186, https://doi.org/10.1002/pros.20045. The above article, published online on 02 February 2004 in Wiley Online Library (http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/), has been retracted by agreement between the journal Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Samuel Denmeade; and Wiley Periodicals LLC. The publisher received a report from a third party which indicated that the portions of the actin band image had been duplicated between Figures 3A and 3B. The image duplication was confirmed by the publisher. The authors responded to an inquiry by the publisher but reported that the original data were no longer available and did not provide an explanation for the evidence of image duplications. The retraction has been agreed to because the evidence of image duplication, in which the same bands are used to illustrate different experimental results, fundamentally compromises the conclusions reported in the article. The authors did not respond to our notice regarding the retraction.
