Abstract
The results of experimental and theoretical studies on the influence of the surface density of a thin porous sheet of thermally expanded graphite on the acoustic wave transmission coefficient are presented. The applicability of thin film theory for describing the processes of acoustic wave propagation through porous sheet media in the low-frequency region and for small thicknesses is demonstrated. An assessment of the influence of the operating frequency on the sensitivity of the transmission coefficient to the surface density of the sheet is conducted.

Russian Journal of Nondestructive Testing, a translation of Defectoskopiya, is a publication of the Russian Academy of Sciences. This publication offers current Russian research on the theory and technology of nondestructive testing of materials and components. It describes laboratory and industrial investigations of devices and instrumentation and provides reviews of new equipment developed for series manufacture. Articles cover all physical methods of nondestructive testing, including magnetic and electrical; ultrasonic; X-ray and Y-ray; capillary; liquid (color luminescence), and radio (for materials of low conductivity).
