Abstract
Developing oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalysts with optimum composition and highly active catalytic centres is a challenge during electrode scale-up. We show a selection strategy for the optimum composition of Co-Fe-Ni catalyst systems through a scanning droplet cell-based high-throughput screening on thin-film materials libraries, followed by fabrication and testing of the selected compositions in the form of catalyst-coated porous electrodes for the OER in alkaline media. The electrode with optimum composition (Co17Fe25Ni58_Ni foam) exhibits a high current density of 1 A cm−2 during water electrolysis at an operating potential of ∼1.9 V.

With an impact factor of 4.495 (2018), ChemCatChem is one of the premier journals in the field of catalysis. The journal provides primary research papers and critical secondary information on heterogeneous, homogeneous and bio- and nanocatalysis. The journal is well placed to strengthen cross-communication within between these communities. Its authors and readers come from academia, the chemical industry, and government laboratories across the world. It is published on behalf of Chemistry Europe, an association of 16 European chemical societies, and is supported by the German Catalysis Society.
