Abstract

The effects of Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) thickness, charging temperature, and annealing treatments on electrostatic surface potential (ESP) stability and charge decay mechanism of corona charged PTFE electret films studied. The ESP stability were studied by isothermal surface potential decay at 90 ± 1 °C. The initial surface potential was found proportional to thickness, charging conditions, and annealing treatments. Annealing treatments before and after the charging process at 220 ± 1 °C enhanced the ESP stability of electret films by 20–25 % under room environmental conditions.
