Smart Windows

In article number 2407033, Yanfei Ma, Yang Wu, and co-workers present a novel electrically controlled smart window that integrates a self-assembled cellulose nanocrystals layer with an electrochromic PEDOT layer, enabling seasonally adaptive thermal management in buildings. In winter, the window appears colored with high near-infrared transmittance, low solar reflectivity (26%), and infrared emissivity (20%). In summer, it appears bleached with low near-infrared transmittance, high solar reflectivity (91%), and infrared emissivity (∼94%).
