Conducta suicida en interconsulta: Comparación entre pacientes mayores y menores de 65 años

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the sociodemographic, clinical and health care characteristics of the demands for suicidal ideation/attempt in relation to the elderly population versus those under 65 years of age in psychiatric interconsultation. The results show that the mean length of stay is longer in the older population. Regarding discharge referral, admissions to psychiatric hospitalization units predominated in the younger population, as well as referral to mental health facilities. In the population over 65 years of age, referral to primary care facilities and higher mortality predominate.
