Abstract

A new method for processing plastic waste (fixing rings and caps of mineral and soda water plastic bottles) based on their gas-phase processing in a nitrating atmosphere followed by the disposal of conversion products is considered. It was established that keeping the cap samples (LDPE, PP, PETF) in a nitrating atmosphere obtained as a result of evaporation of 12 M HNO3 at temperatures of 403–423 K for 24 h followed by dissolution of the conversion products in 1.0 M NaOH and ozonation of the resulting solutions allows efficient disposal of bottle waste regardless of the type of plastic.
