Molecular clock analyses suggested the common ancestor of <i>Neotricholomopsis</i> emerged later than upper Cretaceous with a mean crown age of 229.36 Mya (95% highest posterior density of 129.63-343.08 Mya). These five specimens were described as an unreported taxon based on the phylogeny analysis combined with morphological examination and ecological and geographical distribution.
