The investigation specifically focuses on self-packed fixed-bed columns with a low number of theoretical plates <i>N</i><sub>t</sub>. It details the packing method optimization for these columns and identifies key challenges. Ultraviolet-visible (UV/Vis) and refractive index (RI) detectors, including parameters such as rise time <i>t</i><sub>rise</sub> and wavelength <i>λ</i>, are thoroughly compared in this study. Various models are assessed for their appropriateness in predicting the isotherms.
