Abstract

Introduction: The inter-relationship between botany, medicine and horticulture started long before the 20th century, but it became an important modality during World War 1. Horticulture became an essential part of the multi-disciplinary approach to the treatment of patients and disabled people with physical or mental problems. It enhances calmness, and enjoyment together with other modalities like music and art therapies, therapy with animals and more.
