Abstract

In the context of prematurity, invasive care can interrupt recognition of the oral sphere as a source of pleasure, substituting positive in utero experiences with others of pain and passivity. A unique approach to care in the neonatal unit helps to support parents and baby during this period. However, if medical care can be reduced, what happens when the baby returns home, and when he or she discovers how to eat? How can the gastrostomic baby take part in the family meal? We'll take a look at Basile (born prematurely with a rare ENT pathology) and his family, to see how, at the age of 2, he can carve out a place for himself within his family, particularly with his brothers, including his twin, who has a different background.
