Abstract

Using scanning tunneling microscopy, it is shown that a lath structure is formed in the heat-affected zone of the low-carbon, low-alloy 09G2S steel after electric arc surfacing. Analysis of the results of scanning tunneling microscopy revealed a number of subtle morphological features of the lath structure, which makes it possible to explain the mechanism of its formation and identify it as lower bainite.
