Abstract

(Abstracted from Am J Obstet Gynecol 2024;230:87.e1–87.e9) Vasa previa is diagnosed when fetal blood vessels develop near or covering the internal cervical os and is associated with high perinatal morbidity and mortality due to vessel injury. The ability to detect vasa previa prenatally has greatly reduced the impact on perinatal morbidity and mortality by allowing for preterm cesarean delivery before the rupture of membranes.
