Abstract

This is a project on the development of a voice-based navigation system to help the visually impaired travel independently and safely. All the modules integrated together work on ultrasonic sensors for obstacle detection and moisture sensors to identify slippery surfaces and hence ensure a safer walk. It embeds Bluetooth technology, supporting real-time voice assistance that gives the user audio cues and directions. The GPS tracker with an emergency button adds location-tracking functionality to the system, along with a fast alert mechanism in case of emergency. Combinations of all these modules can be used to make a single, integral solution for mitigating frequent mobility challenges of visually impaired persons. It is efficient and reliable, showing improvements in quality of life and safety for the blind community after testing in various scenarios.
