Through these examples, guidance is provided on how to perform and validate a HTS test for the detection and identification of molecularly characterized viruses and viroids. Abstract
The EPPO Standard PM 7/151 Considerations for the use of high throughput sequencing in plant health diagnostics (EPPO, 2022) was recently published.
New supporting information (Supporting information S2) is now available and provides examples of high throughput sequencing (HTS) tests that have been validated for the detection and/or identification of viruses and viroids and can be used for diagnostic purposes. Through these examples, guidance is provided on how to perform and validate a HTS test for the detection and identification of molecularly characterized viruses and viroids. The aim of this document is to help laboratories adopting the technology.
