Gen Z chooses trade schools over traditional colleges

Abstract

Over the past several months, there has been a lot in the news about students from Generation Z (1997–2012) choosing to attend “trade” schools over more traditional colleges. Those of us who work in the trade schools don’t call them that. The Technical College System of Georgia is, I suppose, what others might call a trade school. The colleges in the system offer such programs as welding, automotive maintenance and repair, plumbing, construction, industrial systems maintenance, electrical lineman, and aviation maintenance, among many others.
