Abstract

The aim of this investigation is, inter alia, to bring to the attention of researchers the available sources which have a bearing on the Eastern Free State Border Area. At the same time this research paves the way for a future project on this region, which includes the districts of Clocolan, Ficksburg, Ladybrand, Rouxville, Smithfield, Wepener and Zastron. In addition to a comprehensive list of published sources, details are also provided of unpublished official and unofficial documents housed in the Free State Archives Depot and the N.G. Kerk Archives in Bloemfontein as well as in local church and municipal offices and schools.
