Abstract

This paper investigates the performance of the underground detector at the Tien Shan High-Altitude Station for the registration of cosmic muons produced in extensive air showers (EAS) using a simulation with GEANT4. The capability of reconstructing the energy spectrum of EAS muons based on the multiplicity of neutrons produced in interactions of the muons with the detector material and measured with neutron counters was analyzed. The best technique for the reconstruction of the muon energy spectrum is recommended according to the simulation results.
