Abstract

This study explores the critical nexus between cybersecurity and the viability of renewable energy systems, emphasizing the importance of robust cybersecurity measures for the sustainability and success of renewable energy initiatives. Employing a systematic literature review and content analysis, the research scrutinizes peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, industry reports, and policy documents from 2014 to 2024. The methodology focuses on identifying gaps, opportunities, and strategic recommendations for enhancing cybersecurity resilience within the renewable energy sector. Key findings reveal a significant interplay between cybersecurity and renewable energy viability, highlighting the sector's increasing reliance on digital technologies and the corresponding cybersecurity vulnerabilities. The future of cybersecurity in renewable energy is characterized by both emerging challenges and opportunities, particularly the potential for innovation in cybersecurity measures such as the integration of AI and ML for threat detection and response. Strategic recommendations for industry stakeholders include developing a roadmap for resilient infrastructure, while policymakers are urged to craft comprehensive policies that foster secure renewable energy ecosystems. The study concludes that effective cybersecurity practices are fundamental to the sustainability and success of renewable energy initiatives. It underscores the necessity for further research in developing advanced cybersecurity technologies tailored to renewable energy systems, assessing the impact of emerging cyber threats, and evaluating the effectiveness of policy and regulatory frameworks. This exploration lays the groundwork for understanding the current state of cybersecurity within the renewable energy sector and provides a strategic framework for enhancing security measures. Keywords: Cybersecurity, Renewable Energy, Digital Technologies, Threat Detection.
