Abstract

Threaded connections are commonly used in connecting petroleum drilling tools (PDTs). In this study, we use nano copper (NaCU) and epoxy-resin binder to prepare a NaCU-based anti-friction coating (NaCU-AFC). Furthermore, we use finite element analysis (FEA) to validate torque and pressure distribution on the contact tooth surface of threaded joints of PDTs. The results demonstrate that the NaCU-AFC can effectively reduce torque by 35.66%, and significantly improve anti-sticking performance, thereby extending the service life of PDTs.
