On the third day: a case study in reading the Bible backwards

Abstract

This article examines various attempts to trace the Old Testament source of New Testament claims in Luke and 1 Corinthians about the Messiah rising on the third day, including that of Bruce Metzger, Harvey McArthur, Tom Wright, Clare Amos and Richard Hays.
