A Case of a Giant Mesentric Lipoma in a Two-year-old Child Presenting as Koch’s Abdomen

Abstract

Lipomas are termed as universal tumours. They can potentially arise from any site having adipose tissue. Presence of lipomas in the intra-peritoneal region is rare, with mesentery being one of the rare locations. We present a rare case of a two-year-old child with a giant mesenteric lipoma. This child presented with malnutrition and was being treated for Koch’s abdomen. The child underwent uneventful resection of mass. Giant mesenteric lipomas due to their size can present with various unusual symptoms. However, these seldom infiltrate and are easily operable with an uneventful intra-operative course and follow-ups.
