By absorbing impact energy and protecting occupants and vehicles, bumpers directly address a crucial gap in current Indian automotive safety. Abstract

India leads the world in annual road fatalities (230,000), despite being a top-ten car market. This discrepancy highlights the urgent need for stricter vehicle safety regulations. While concerns regarding an 8-15% increase in car prices due to stricter standards exist, the potential for global car exports and significant lives saved outweighs these costs. This review analyses the critical role car bumpers play in mitigating accident severity.
