Abstract
In a small tributary of a plain reservoir and its mouth area, 91 species of water mites from 17 families were registered. The families Pionidae (17 species) and Arrenuridae (16 species) were the most represented. The stations of the frontal zone differed from the others in the maximum values of species richness and abundance in all years. The faunistic similarity of the studied communities was generally low, except for the group of ones in the frontal zone and the transition zone of the reservoir. In the hot year of 2010, additional stations of the receiver joined this group. In this year, an increase in the total species richness and abundance was observed in the surveyed water area as a whole and in all individual habitats.
