LED light utilization offers several advantages compared to Laser: the possibility to treat large surfaces, low cost, and safety for patients and operators. Abstract

This work aims to show the important role that might be played by the daily utilization of LED technology in dentistry, as well as to suggest the advantages of the application of Light-Emitting-Diode (LED) Photobiomodulation (PBM) and PhotoDynamic Therapy (PDT) for the treatment of a large number of oral diseases. It presents an overview of the most recent and interesting studies on PBM and PDT by LED light in periodontics, endodontics, orthodontics, implantology, and Oral Medicine.
