Abstract
An analysis of experimental and theoretical data on the study of preferential sputtering of nickel- and
copper-platinum-based alloys during bombardment with an ion beam was carried out. It is shown that,
in contradiction with existing models, the main factor determining the process of preferential sputtering is
the ratio of the surface binding energies of the components.
