Abstract
Background and Purpose: This study aims to develop and validate a tool to measure women's attitudes toward long-acting and permanent family planning methods (LAPMs). Methods: Participants were 500 women of childbearing age who were 18 years of age or older and voluntarily agreed to participate in the study. The study was carried out in two phases: instrument development and psychometric testing. After a comprehensive literature review, 30 preitems of the scale were created. Item analysis was performed using adjusted item-total correlations. Factor analyses were performed to confirm construct validity. Cronbach's alpha, standard error of measurement, and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) were used to assess reliability. Results: The analyses revealed that the eight-item, three-factor structure had acceptable fit values. The Cronbach's alpha value of the scale was found to be .73. The ICC value was .997. Conclusions: The scale is a valid and reliable tool used to assess women's attitudes toward LAPMs.

The Journal of Nursing Measurement specifically addresses instrumentation in nursing. It serves as a prime forum for disseminating information on instruments, tools, approaches, and procedures developed or utilized for measuring variables in nursing research, practice, and education. Particular emphasis is placed on evidence for the reliability and validity or sensitivity and specificity of such instruments. The journal includes innovative discussions of theories, principles, practices, and issues relevant to nursing measurement.
