Abstract
The main factor determining the uniqueness of the mouth areas of reservoir tributaries is the re-gulation of the receiver level. Mouth areas and reservoirs in general are anthropogenically stabilized ecosystems. It is shown that for plankton communities the edge effect manifests itself in the frontal zone of the mouth area, and for contour communities (benthos and phytophilic fauna) the mouth area is characterized as an ecocline. In abnormally hot years, a weakened response of plankton communities was observed in the mouth area compared to the reservoir, and communities of phytophilic macroinvertebrates were most stable in the reservoir.
