Abstract

This paper aims to examine the role of intrinsic in improving performance on the Public Services Delivery (PSD) in Tanzania with a particular focus on Civil Servants (CS) in the Arusha City Council (ACC). The study adopted a descriptive research design with the survey strategy and employed a mixed method research approach to collect and analyze data. The tools used to collect primary data were Questionnaire, observation and interview guide. Results revealed that motivation improved performance in the delivery of Public Services in ACC.  Findings show there is a significant relationship between salary, bonus, allowances, promotions, benefits and CS performance. It is recommended that the ACC should create an open and honest communication platforms through which CS ideas, concerns and thoughts can be heard. Also, the Authority should create a flexible and productive working environment for CS; as well as timely provision of favorable intrinsic and extrinsic motivations.
