Abstract

Background: The high incidence of anaemia is closely related to the adherence of adolescent girls in taking Fe tablets, where 8.3 million out of 12.1 million adolescent girls do not take Fe tablets which puts them at risk of anaemia. Anaemia in adolescent girls who experience pregnancy is associated with an increased risk of premature birth, low birth weight babies, maternal and newborn deaths. This study aims to determine the factors that influence the adherence of adolescent girls to consume Fe tablets, Methods: descriptive analytic, with a cross sectional approach, Results: Based on analytical tests, the results showed that there was no significant relationship between education (p value: 0.118) with adherence to taking Fe tablets, there was a significant relationship between knowledge (p value: 0.000) with adherence to taking Fe tablets, there was no significant relationship between attitude education (p value: 0.35) with adherence to taking Fe tablets and there was a significant relationship between support (p value: 0.000) with adherence to taking Fe tablets. Conclusion: Knowledge and support of Fe tablets are closely related to adherence in taking Fe tablets. Adherence by adolescent girls in taking Fe tablets regularly will reduce the risk of anaemia in adolescents. Keywords: factors, Adolescent Girls, Adherence
